Every morning when Randy leaves for work the boys say in chorus, "Bye Dad! I love you!" To which Randy always responds, "I love you more." Then Marcus, with arms stretched wide declares, "I love you this much!" To which Randy replies, "Oh yeah, well I love you this much!" as he stretches his much longer arms out to the sides. The competition continues until someone, usually Marcus, drops the infinity bomb. "Dad, I love you infinity!"
It's conversations like this that make a tiny part of me wish I could leave every day just to hear my boys declare their never ending affection for me. But then I remember all the little things I'd miss during the day, like Marcus and Ethan forced to wrap themselves up in blankets to keep warm while I blast the air conditioner in attempt to keep my overheated, pregnant body mildly comfortable.
My little boys are quickly becoming little men and I'm glad they've got a great Dad to show them the ropes.

I love the striped quilt. And I so remember those days being "great with child" and never cool enough. I think an uneventful, smooth sailing home stretch is in order for you, Mel. Take care!
ReplyDeleteAwwwwe, what a nice tribute. And that picture totally made me forget that you live in the middle of a hot steamy jungle (which I'm sure is so fun to be pregnant in). No wonder you blast the A/C.
