Risky Business
Every mother knows there are five minutes of every day when you risk it all, gamble with fate, and hope for the best. Otherwise known as "Taking A Shower."
It doesn't matter how old your kids are. They develop a 6th sense when it comes to recognizing that Mom is currently occupied and they have free reign to do (destroy) anything they can get their sticky hands on.
I remember one fateful day when Marcus was (terrible) two. I made a quick escape to the shower, locking baby Ethan in the bathroom with me to keep him safe from the evil clutches of his big brother. After my fast-as-lightning shower, I went down to the kitchen to find Marcus smearing cake across every surface within his reach. He was so upset he got caught in the act he wouldn't even look at the camera for a picture.
Fast forward a few years.
I came downstairs after another speedy shower to find Marcus taking pictures with my camera. Luckily, the camera still works, sort of. But that's beside the point. Marcus spent those few minutes of independence taking pictures. He documented in detail what was going on while I was showering. Fortunately nothing of serious consequence occurred....this time.

Buddy and Leslie love the camera, not to be on the photographed side but to be doing the picture taking. I can't tell you how many pictures I have of fingers, random things, and my bum- for some reason they are drawn to it.
ReplyDeletelove the title. i was gonna say, that CAN'T be your current kitchen. too bad huh? i never thought i would miss my Israel kitchen. sigh.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. And the Triathlon- even awesomer!
ReplyDeletethat is some serious risky business! for me sometimes taking photos makes me laugh more than cry, hopefully it is the same for you.
ReplyDeletei so know what you mean about risking it all by taking a shower. i always think my kids are escaping out the door and running down the street or letting in a stranger. luckily that hasn't happened yet, only people we know.
