Must Get Sleep
We had just survived a 12-hour flight across the Pacific and had a layover at Kansai Airport. I was so tired I was actually closing my eyes as we walked through the terminal and my speech slurred as I told my boys to stop running around. Apparently their bodies thrived on sleep deprivation while my body was screaming at me to sit down and sleep. After all it felt like it was about one in the morning.
Ethan needed to go to the bathroom so I took him while Randy watched the other boys. My first clue I was in the men's room should have been the big blue sign with a stick figure of a man. Even in Japan, it's not lost in translation. But I didn't notice it.
My next clue should have been the urinal against the wall. Instead, I thought to myself, "Finally someone put a urinal in the ladies bathroom for all the boys who have to go in with their moms. Those Japanese think of everything!"
An hour later I headed for the same bathroom and started walking in when Randy said, "Um, Mel. That's the men's room."
After finding the right bathroom I collapsed on an uncomfortable airport chair, hoping to slip into blissful unconsciousness before the next flight and within seconds Landon started to cry, needing to be fed.
Perfect timing.
