Living on the Edge

We spent the day with some friends at Okinawa World--A tourist attraction we haven't checked out yet. We had no idea we'd be risking our lives and the lives of our innocent children all for a little Japanese fun.
First we went down into the depths of the earth and walked through a HUGE cave. It took us about a half-hour to walk all the way through it.

(check out Marcus stroking the python like it's a kitten)

Then we got our family picture taken with an albino Burmese Python. For the record, Randy was terrified and whining but I made him do it so our boys wouldn't think less of their old man. Randy cried on my shoulder after the ordeal was over. Or was that Landon? I forget. Luckily the snake had recently been fed or Landon would've made a tasty lunch.

And if that wasn't enough adventure, we went to a live snake show. The kids sat around the small 1-foot high stage where trained specialists showed us just how deadly Habus (Japanese pit vipers) and cobras can be. Habus can jump 10 feet to strike their prey. Our kids were sitting 3 feet away. Only in Japan.

  2. AAAHHH! I would've peed my pants! Your baby looks like he has no legs in the family cave shot. Yikes!

  3. Best family picture ever. I hope to see this on your Christmas card. It looks like Ethan didn't take his eyes off that giant head, and I can't say that I blame him.

  4. We just went there yesterday...and Cliff had much the same reaction. He refused to be in the picture with the python at the snake show, but luckily he came around for the albino python pic...so his boys will have some respect for him, lol! I love your new header!

  5. Ewww... I think my skin crawled for the remainder of the day after doing that.

I LOVE the shot at the top with you holding the snakes head ... Randy's keeping his eye on it, just in case! LOL!

  7. Yikes! You ARE indeed having a ball in Japan. I may have been crying on your shoulder with Randy and Landon if I touched that python. ;)

That cave looks pretty awesome. Did they have a guide or did you just get to wander? Caves in the US (at least the ones I've been to) are pretty strict about what you can touch & where you can go. It looked like you got a self-guided tour...
