Blossoming Identity

We drove up north to catch the end of the cherry blossoms. The boys were less than thrilled at this looooong drive (60 minutes) to look at pink trees but they got excited when we told them the trees were at some old castle ruins.
To be honest, it wasn't too exciting. In fact, the most exciting part was driving home with the gas light on, wondering how much farther we'd make it before the van sputtered to a stop. We were out of Yen and didn't dare pull into a Japanese gas station. (We have always gassed up on base.) Luckily we made it. Big sigh of relief!
The entertaining part was Bean, of course.
As we left the castle I told Bean to hurry up or he'd get left. (Don't worry, I would never actually leave him. It was just a weak attempt to get him to hurry up.) Out of nowhere he started rambling on and on....

"I am an important part of this family!"

"I do important things!"

"I pick up toys, I hug Landon...

...and I walk down castle stairs."

Yes, son. You are the middle child.

Oh, and here are some more blossoms for your viewing pleasure

  1. Ok, the blossoms are gorgeous, the drama of the gas light is tense, but honestly, those pictures of Bean throwing his arms up and listing the reasons why his existence means something - well, they are adorable and hilarious.

  2. So cute Bean! I can see my middle child doing similar. She's always extra good at picking up the toys, giving kisses and making sure she gets the love she wants.

  6. That. Is. Awesome. I'm sure Randy can help him through the Middle-Child Blues. Also, it looks like you're getting a handle on the new camera! If you're looking for a good book on digital photography (we were lost when we got our camera so I like to find things that help me use it), I've found Scott Kelby's books to be really helpful, and you don't have to be a professional photographer to understand them. But you're pictures of Bean and the Cherry blossoms look awesome, so maybe you don't need any help.

  8. Be nice to the middle child. He really will be the one that gets left the most (remember how many times I got "left?" Or maybe you were all just trying to get rid of me . . . ) :)
