We've had a family from Chile visiting us for the past several days. They're friends from Randy's mission and the nicest people ever. They don't speak a lot of English and I don't speak any Spanish so it was a good thing Randy had a break from school so he could hablar in espanol. I've become very good at talking slowly and using lots of hand gestures in a weak attempt to communicate. The night before they left we played a game called Super Frog. A perfect game to breach the language barrier as all you have to know are animal sounds and gestures.
Super Frog
Bean the monkey
Moose
Snake
Bear
To our friends (Nick, Derek, and Scott) who are teaching Spanish to their children, way to go! Randy is so fired for leaving us unable to say anything besides Hola!
Me encanta!!! How fun to have mission visitors. Rota sure forces you to get out of your comfort zone. Never thought I'd have to use it. Thank goodness I did have some preparation. Si tu quieres hablar in Espanol, vente a Rota. Besos y abrazos!
Yay for Spanish! I wish I could learn as fast as Breck, but I'm not a sponge anymore. Good job getting through the visit with your spanglish. Did you accidentally say anything in Japanese as your brain was trying to convert? I kept speaking Spanish words when we first came to Okinawa. I wonder if it will work backwards.
You always make me laugh. I'd be right with ya in the idiot category. The extent of my Spanish is like taco or burrito.
