A Check Off the Bucket List

I finally saw the Blue Angels air show and it was incredible!  Seriously, these guys fly within 18" (eighteen inches!) of each other. It's like they have a death wish or something.  Anyway, our friends invited us to go on their boat with them so we spent all day Friday cruising around Lake Washington.  Randy had to see patients so I took tons of pictures and video so he'd know exactly what he missed out on.  (So nice of me to rub it in, I know.)  Then some other friends invited us to go again on Saturday so all of Randy's dreams came true when he got to join in on the fun.  Unfortunately we were surrounded by hundreds of boats full of people partying like it was Spring Break 2011.  It didn't help when Marcus and Bean kept waving at all the girls in bikinis as they floated by.  So yes, the Blue Angels were awesome but even more awesome was boating in Seattle.
This place was made for boating and you only have to experience it once to understand.  The lakes are surrounded by beautiful multi-million dollar homes on the shores and every kind of boat from huge yachts to motorized rafts can be found on the water, with seaplanes taking off and landing right in front of you.  It is exhilarating just being there.   We even pulled our boats up to  a restaurant on the water's edge where they don't even have a parking lot, just a boat dock.  We ate fantastic seafood surrounded by other boaters all dressed in swimsuits.  It was so cool!  If we ever make Seattle our permanent residence we will definitely be buying a boat.  Until then, we're glad that just about everyone we know owns one so we can enjoy the boating experience.

Boats were playing the soundtrack to Top Gun as the jets flew overhead
The kids were having as much fun staring at the drunks as watching the air show

  1. You must have a cool camera! (your talent as the photographer is also evident)

Both the Blue Angels and the boating look even cooler than the camera that took the photos!!!

    COOL.
