Sometimes it's nice to be reminded what matters most.
Friday night was just me with three little boys who were up for an adventure. Randy was at the lab experimenting on rats (don't ask details because I don't know) so it was up to me to come up with something fun to do. I suggested we ride our bikes to the grocery store for milkshakes. My suggestion was met with a resounding, "YEESSSS!!" so I knew I had a good idea going.
Unfortunately by the time I had all the bikes ready and a flat tire repaired we were running out of daylight, fast. When we got to the store ( just over a mile away) I told the boys we'd have to eat our milkshakes at home because it was getting dark. We had them whipped up extra thick so they wouldn't melt, snapped on the lids and hustled back out to our bikes. Landon guzzled down his milkshake in the Chariot while Marcus and Bean tucked theirs carefully away in the storage compartment and away we rode. We got home just as the first stars were beginning to pop out in the night sky.
We sat down on the front porch with a perfect view of the full moon. It was beautiful and calm. Landon sat on my lap nestled under my chin with Marcus and Bean on either side. We talked about school, astronauts, Japan, flying to Utah, outer space, and anything else that popped into their heads. Then we sang songs and laughed as the darkness settled in around us.
It felt good doing nothing. Sometimes just being together is enough.
love it. my favorite times.
