The greatest snow on earth might be found in Utah but the best skiing on earth is definitely in Whistler, Canada. I wasn't expecting to be too impressed with Whistler because I'm a Utah girl, home of the winter Olympics 2002, and proud of it! But Whistler beats Park City any day. Besides our Thanksgivings spent in Oki, this year's can't be beat.

We scored an excellent hotel room (2 bedrooms/baths, jetted tub, 2 fireplaces, full kitchen) that just happened to be across the street from the ski lift. This turned out to be super convenient so Randy and I could trade off skiing with the boys or join our friends who were also there with their five kids.
When we weren't skiing we were swimming in the outdoor heated pool, sledding, or drinking hot chocolate by the fire.

The Hild's whose 7-yr old skis as well as Randy
We even had a homemade Thanksgiving dinner which was very simple but anything is better than eating Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant. |

As I rode up the ski lift with Marcus I thought back to all the times I went skiing with Randy before we were married. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined I'd be teaching my 7-year old how to ski in Canada. It was one of those surreal moments that made me realize how thankful I am that life doesn't always go as planned. If it did, I'd probably be living in Utah without a stamp in my passport. Sheesh, I probably wouldn't even own a passport!
I'm totally jealous of the trip and your coat.
ReplyDelete...and I'm Jealous - Awesome Thanksgiving! Looking forward to seeing you guys again, and so does Kayla - she still occasionally blurts out RandyMelMarcusEthanLandon! completely unprovoked
