Christmastime means tradition time at our house. I've learned from my parents that traditions keep families together, plus they're a great way to torture teenagers who are too cool to do anything with their family. During the last couple years we've started a few traditions, like reading Christmas stories by candlelight each night, decorating the tree for Family Night, and a few other things that help us count down until the big day.
Our newest tradition that started last week is our Love Tree. I came up with the idea as I was folding laundry and I have to admit it was a stroke of genius. Here's how the Love Tree works: do something nice for someone to show you love them and you get to hang an ornament on the Love Tree. We decided our family is so loving we'd like to try filling the tree with ornaments twice before Christmas. That's a lot of love but so far we're right on track for reaching our goal.
You might be wondering why this is so great. Let me just say that I haven't had to make my bed once this past week, the boy's room is always clean, and the boys fight (fight!) to take out the garbage.
I love the Love Tree. You should get one too. Trust me.
You are the best mom ever. Please keep a book for me. I'll need it!
