I'm OK with this. Yes, the thought of getting rid of bins and bins of boy clothes was really exciting but I knew I was going to be a mother of boys the day I found out Marcus was a boy. I came to grips with this years ago.
It's going to take some time for Randy to get used to the idea.
Marcus will be devastated when he finds out.
Ethan is thrilled because he won't be getting kissed all the time if he had a sister. In his mind a little sister likes to give out lots of kisses.
Landon still thinks the world revolves around him, and it does. For now.
But I've sent out a few texts with the good news and I'm loving all the responses of denial, sympathy, words of encouragement, etc. So feel free to comment too because I'm laughing my head off at the wide range of reactions.
Oh, and you're welcome to suggest your favorite 2-syllable boy names. We are stumped.
How could anyone be filled with anything but joy for you? Seriously! Ok, so maybe it's just me. I LOVE having 4 boys and if truth be told, I would have loved to have a 5th little rascal. So I'm offering you major congratulations. There is a lot of notoriety that comes from being a mom of 4 boys and I'm sure you'll get lots of interesting comments in Rhode Island (and WA for that matter). You are the perfect mom for boys and I'm excited for you! You know, Brian has been dead set on using his favorite boy name for all four boys. Now that we are stumped on a girl name (seriously, can't think of one), Brian would be honored if you used his favorite boy name of all time and I promise it isn't a joke: Rocky. See? If you use it, he won't feel so bad it went to waste because I couldn't come around to the idea. Congrats, Mel!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE BOYS!!!! Does this mean you are done? Come on, you guys can have 5. Wayne already talks about our 5th (yikes!)
ReplyDeletehere are my favorites
Benson
Grady
Greyson ( I love the nick name Grey ;)
Cohen
Camden
Parker
Eli
Hudson
Tanner
Hooray for boys. I like boys! Plus, I can just imagine when they're in high school and all of the girls talk with each other about which Ball boy they have a crush on! Congrats! I'm excited for you!
ReplyDeleteRiley :)
Logan
Grayson ( our last name is gray and I think I got the idea from Sherstine anyway)
How about Boston for his name?!?
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! Boy are so fun, we would love another boy. Just remember, ultra sounds are never 100% correct. Garrett was "Allison" until they pulled him out of my belly via Emergency C-section. I know this is silly, but the name Garrett would sound good with all your other boy name. By the way, I love all of your boys names.
ReplyDeleteYay for boys! One can never have enough nephews. And they're so less drama than us females. And when he comes out he'll be so cute that you'll forget you ever wanted a girl.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Paul? Paul Ball. heh heh.
I just love Henry but Johnny won't allow it. Who knows, maybe well go opposite of you and have all girls. Whoa. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteYeah!! We are having a Boy too! (In June) I am pretty nervous, but also excited. We will probably name him Samuel, but we'll see. I also love Joseph, but I am partial to the classic names. I have a friend who named his only son Halen (the Leavitts, remember them?), which I thought was odd when I first heard it, but I actually like it a lot now.
ReplyDeleteCongrats guys. We're excited for you. I can't really help with names. Obviously, we've only tossed around a few...not a lot of options with our last name, is there.
ReplyDeleteJust for the record, you'd be a great mom to a girl, too. But boys are fun, and though your life may be one continuous wild rumpus, I'm sure there will never be a dull moment in the Ball household.
ReplyDeleteNames: Owen, Patrick, Conner? I must have St. Patty's day on the brain.
I still don't believe you're having a boy. So for girls names I like the name Annie. That is all.
ReplyDeleteBoys are so awesome, I think they keep you young and ready for adventure. As for names, you need to go with something beginning with "B" ... You have M.E.L. Unless you plan on filling your house (that would be a nice thought) :).
ReplyDeleteHe'll be a blessing ... Congrats! Keep your feet up and enjoy some chocolate!

Funny Story. I went out shopping for fabric for a blanket for you and your new addition. Found some very cute stuff. Then I thought waite, what is she a having? In my head came...a boy, so I purchased boy fabric. Then Sherstine informed me that you didn't know yet, and that you and Randy felt strongly that you were having a girl. I scrambled and prepared my fabrics for either one. Ha...Are you keeping with the M E L line up? Will this boys name start with an A ?? So thrilled for miraculous modern medicine and for another BOY. He'll make a great pirate arrrgh !
ReplyDeleteauntie Karen
We are also expecting our 4th. We don't know what we are having yet and I don't know if I want to find out. And this post makes me think I shouldn't find out. I've already gotten the "oh yeah well you should try for that boy", or the "I'll pray it's a boy for you". I think this is the first time I really don't care what we have. Sorry this is way too much about me. I think I know how you are feeling. Congratulations on a healthy boy and how great will it be to focus on boys and make them the BEST BOYS EVER!!! A two syllable name starting with an A (I totally agree with Karen)...how about Adam or Alex. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI personally think you are having a boy to come along and keep Landon in line!! At least there is no doubt that he'll be cute!!!
ReplyDeleteGirls scream and whine too much anyways. Petar Pan says they talk too much and the Little Rascals say they smell weird. You guys would make a CUTE little girl though. I say go for an "A" name then plan to have 3 girls next to finish off your name. =) You should name him "Awesome" cuz that's probably how you felt when you knew he was coming. And if he pops out a girl, you can still name her "Awesome" cuz that's how you'll feel then! Congratulations on four boys! I think it's great. -Ali
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Brian is so jealous. He wanted an entire basketball team of BOYS. That didn't quite happen. Team Sweeney: 1 boy, 1 girl, 1 dad and a mom who can't really shoot. You, on the other hand, have great things in store! (I had no idea you had used your name as the acronym for your kids' names. Clever. )
ReplyDeleteNames: I like Adam or Aidan if you go with an "A."
Congrats!
jenifer
I am thrilled for you. Think of how much fun we will have playing around Farmington with all of our boys! I try to tell people that they don't need to feel sorry for me because I have 5 boys. I wouldn't trade my unique family for the world. I love them each so much. Here are my name suggestions in no particular order....
ReplyDeleteBeckam, Jackson, Austen, Conner, Cooper, Porter, Ryder, Caden, Maxwell, Jacob, Spencer, and Tanner... :)
Congrats guys!!!! And my vote is for Horace...
ReplyDeleteYou will be a great den leader! :) When I found out I was having my third boy, Jon went ahead and spoiled me with a scout leader uniform. Real funny?!
ReplyDeleteYour boys are adorable, you will have yet another one. Reesey girl has her eyes on Landon. He's a cutie and she doesn't mind that he is not a big fan of water, as long as he can get over any of her quorks.
As for names per Jon's suggestion:
Bernard
Xavier
Quinton (although Glee kind of messed up the name Quinn giving it to a girl)
Tiger
Scout
Fire (beware: you may set yourself up for a hellian)
He may have a few more up his sleeve.
Congrats!
