In the Thick of Things

Ever since school started I feel like I barely have time to breathe.  It's true that life gets busier as your kids get older.  My afternoons are filled with more homework, more soccer practices, scouts, and piano lessons.  Throw into the mix dinner preparations and I know as soon as the boys come home from school I have to be at the top of my game.  Last week another wrench was thrown in the works when Marcus had to be at the orthodontist for braces.  I needed to be in three places at once which meant a friend had to pick up Landon from preschool and Ethan rode home on a bus with another friend.  After the appointment was over I raced around picking everyone up and got Ethan to soccer practice, all without trying to get pulled over with another speeding ticket.  Two weeks ago I was speeding to soccer practice and got nailed by a cop for going way over the 25 mph speed limit.  For the record, unless you're on a highway, pretty much all the roads in RI are 25 mph.  Luckily everyone goes 35 mph.  But when you're caught going 47mph I guess the cops have to draw the line somewhere.
Like I said, things have been busy, and I haven't even mentioned all the stuff Randy and I have going on with our church assignments.  At the end of one of the craziest days ever, the boys were all asleep, and I went out to the garage to close the doors when I noticed the full moon.  I couldn't help myself.  I walked out and stood in the middle of the street and just stared at the sky, enjoying the stillness of the night settling around me.  The moon shone so brightly I could see my shadow on the ground. Looking at the huge moon and a few tiny stars twinkling in the night sure made me feel small and insignificant, but in a good way.  In that moment I was reminded there is more to life than the daily chaos of life with four kids, and for the first time in a long time, life felt peaceful.

I've been watching lots of this

I wrecked my van backing out of the garage

Before Braces
After Braces
