We have finally decided when we get done with the Navy gig in two years, we want to move back to Seattle, assuming of course that Randy can find a job there so this is in no way a done deal. But the point is, WA is where we want to end up. This decision is significant because we don't make decisions lightly and I never thought I'd be OK to live anywhere but Utah. I know that probably sounds lame to some people but I really love my family and living in Utah means I'd get to see them more than once or twice a year. But I've also come to realize that I really love things that Utah can't offer.
We are water people. We like living by the water, whether it be oceans or lakes or both. We also like that Seattle is close to Canada and Oregon, which are both great vacation spots. We like being near enough to family to have the option of driving, and I like that the summers are cool enough that I can actually be outside to enjoy them. Yes, it rains a lot but the winters are mild. Maybe one day we'll be able to afford yearly trips to Hawaii to soak up some sun and vitamin D.
The realization that I love living by water was reaffirmed today. We went on a quick adventure to explore a nearby beach before listening to General Conference. The boys were pleased as punch that I let them wear non-Sunday clothes on the Sabbath, but I had visions of them scraping the knees out of their Sunday pants and caved in just this once. It was a great way to get their wiggles out and miraculously no one got hurt or fell in the water. Success!

Landon finally puts on his shoes by himself as evidenced by the fact they are on the wrong feet. |
I'm in denial that you're moving again in a couple of years. But you do make a compelling case for Seattle. Well, lets just hang out as much as possible between now and then.
ReplyDeleteGreat news for you! Our time in California convinced Scott too, we have to be near water. Someday!
