New York City!

This was quite possibly the best Girls Night Out in the history of GNO.  Our day started early, driving down through Connecticut, where we caught the slowest-train-never-doing-that-again-I-think-I-could've-ran-faster into New York.  We got a quick and awkward group shot of us in Grand Central Station before I literally ran to Times Square to wait in the TKTS line for discount Broadway tickets.  We ended up seeing Newsies which was spectacular.  I've seen a ton of Broadway shows but I've never seen one where the actors had to keep waiting and waiting and waiting for the applause to die down so they could continue.  Now I'm even more determined to take Marcus and Bean to it.  They will love it!
I've been to New York a bunch of times so other than seeing Newsies, I had two things I wanted to do:  visit Ground Zero and eat cheesecake from Junior's.  Let's just say the Ground Zero thing didn't happen, which was super disappointing.  After walking there, we were told to go back to where we had just come from for tickets.  Once we got there, we were redirected to some other place with another long line, and well, you get the idea.  It's really sad how confusing and frustrating the whole thing was, and we weren't the only ones who felt that way.  Hopefully next time I'll get to see the waterfalls. {Link here if you have no idea what they've done with Ground Zero.}
After the show we fought the crowds and did more sightseeing.  The weather was gorgeous so tourists were everywhere! One of the highlights of my trip, which I'm kinda embarrassed to admit, was eating lunch and dinner without kids.  Seriously, it was so enjoyable to eat good food, visit with good friends, and of course rest our feet.  We found a little hole-in-the-wall pizza joint for dinner and I think we sat there for over an hour, just because we could.  We fought the crowds again for some cheesecake from Junior's.  They're famous for their cheesecake which they can ship fresh, to pretty much anywhere.  Let's just say it did not disappoint.
The coolest part about this whole trip was being able to do it in a day.  I mean really, who gets to do that?  Me!  That's who.
Oh, and these friend of mine are awesome.  We talked all day, non-stop, 6am-midnight.  Loved it!

  1. Oh, what fun! Of course, I'm jealous that a) you have friends and b) you live so close to New York City. Both of which are in short supply around here. :)
