Wow. I am exhausted. I feel like I've been living a double life, the vacation life and the busy mom life. I've been juggling getting the kids to school, soccer, swim, and scouts, all while taking my sister and her family sightseeing and doing all the fun touristy things. Marcus and Ethan are definitely extra grumpy lately but I'm forgiving them because I can't imagine how hard it must be to keep going to school when their cousins are here on summer vacation. If they didn't have so many absences from ski trips and our trip to D.C. I would've let them skip a few days but I'm trying to keep the truancy officer off my back.
Man, we had a good time though! And can I just say Spjute girls rock. Laura and I set a new record for getting the most out of a day trip to Boston. We walked the Freedom Trail in record time, even with slow kids in tow, found an awesome hole-in-the-wall restaurant that I must go back to, rode a ferry boat, and finished the trip off with a drive along the Charles River to see Cambridge.
Let's not forget all the fun RI stuff we did too. We took them to see lighthouses and beaches, kayaked in Newport, toured the mansions along the Cliff Walk, and ate fresh lobster. You can buy lobster here right off the boat so it's half the price and oh so fresh. Live lobster entertained the kids and the cooked lobster filled the adult's bellies. Yum!
The icing on the cake was having my nieces in the house. I finally got to read the book Pinkalicious for the first time. Next time I'll plan something really girlie like makeovers or pedicures for us to do together. I loved it!

| This is Kate. She looks exactly like Laura did when she was 8. It's kind of freaky. I love her too. I need a daughter. |

ReplyDeletewhat's the name of the hole-in-the-wall restaurant?
ReplyDeleteTheo's Cozy Corner and it's on the same street as the front of the Old North Church. Most everyone there was eating breakfast of some sort but their burgers were also divine. $8-$15/plate.
DeleteMaybe I can give you the secret to making girls and you can give me the secret to making boys. When I figure t out I'll let you know.
