Columbus Day in Sequim

We made the most of our day off from school by visiting my Aunt Barbara and Uncle Jon.  They live in Sequim {sounds like Skwim) on the Olympic Peninsula.  Part of the fun in visiting them is that we get to take a ferry across the Puget Sound.  The whole trip takes about two and half hours but it's a beautiful drive, not that my boys appreciate it but oh well.
We got on the ferry and had most of the place to ourselves.  Mostly because we were doing a reverse commute so there weren't a lot of people on board, but also because my boys were LOVING that they didn't have to stay in the van so they were wild.  People tend to steer clear of wild boys..  Landon and Parker took turns running across the ferry and sliding on their bellies from one end of the bench to the other.  They thought they were so funny.  Pretty sure everyone else just thought they were loud.

The boys having WAY too much fun on the ferry

I pretended not to know them and enjoyed the view.  It was gorgeous!
After we arrived in Sequim, the boys played in the yard with the dogs, Daisy and Lily.  My boys love dogs, especially Ethan.  After admiring their gorgeous views of the San Juan Islands and Vancouver, we set out for a fun adventure to the Olympic Game Park.  {game as in animals on the Olympic Peninsula}.  We purchased tickets along with three loaves of bread and slowly drove through the park where we saw peacocks, llamas, yaks, zebras, deer, bears, elk, buffalo, wolves, and a tiger.  Except for the wolves and tiger, all the animals are out in the open, just wandering around waiting to be fed.  I cannot begin to express how much fun we had as the animals pushed their heads through the windows, getting right up in our faces, to get food.  My van will never be the same.  There is spit and drool covering all the windows and dripping down the insides and outsides.  The buffalo got really aggressive and actually put a big scratch along the door as it was galloping along next to us.  We will definitely be going back!

Playing in the driveway and miraculously no one fell in the fountain

Eating lunch surrounded by beautiful windows

Barbara surprised the boys with giant SeaHawks cupcakes.  Yum!

Lily and Daisy didn't know what to think of the noisy action and I'm pretty sure they slept well that night

Ethan's face says it all

I quickly learned to keep my window up.  Yikes!

I'm thankful the bears were behind a fence

This guy was huge!

His antlers prevented him from putting his head all the way inside

Buffalo breath is hot and smelly

We took the dogs for a walk along the Dungeness River

How beautiful is that??!!

I turned around and caught these two walking arm in arm.  Brother love melts my heart.

Sunset on the ferry and a super fun day in Sequim
