State Playoffs

The 20221 lacrosse season is over and Marcus is now a State Champ.  Hooray!  But now I need to back up a bit because there was some good lacrosse happening to get to the State Championship game.

There were a few intense games this season but one of the most memorable was when Skyline faced Mt. Si to determine who would go on to State.  Mt. Si was the underdog and we'd beaten them soundly in the regular season. They showed up with determination and lots of fans and were ahead for the first half of the game.  Skyline was playing well but our goalie was letting in so many goals and there goalie was stopping everything.  I was doing my best to not throw up or throw Henry across the aisle since he was driving me crazy and I was trying to concentrate, pray, and send Marcus all the positive vibes I could muster.  In typical Skyline fashion, we kept chipping away at the lead but never got tired because our team is so solid from our two lines of both offense and defense.  When the buzzer sounded we were the ones in the lead with a score of 9-8.  The crowd was going nuts and Marcus immediately jumped the fence and ran into the stands to hug me and celebrate.  It was such a happy night as we celebrated the end of a season with a huge win to take us to State.  We had a lot of friends there cheering Marcus on and it made the night feel even more special.

Luckily there was a professional photographer there so we have some great photos of the game.  The sky was on fire with color.

This game was almost lost because of our goalie but he redeemed himself with seconds left when he cleared the ball all the way down the field, our attack man caught it, and then shot with seconds to spare, saving us from overtime and winning the game.
