A Sisters Trip, Golfing, And Other Random Things

I flew to Utah for a quick trip to hang out with my sisters and attend Time Out for Women.  I arrived Friday afternoon and returned Sunday night so it was short.  But just long enough for my boys to get completely thrown out of their routines and for Henry to become a feral animal.  Leaving was bliss.  Coming home.....not so great.

I loved listening to the speakers and listening to the performers.  After two days of this conference I left feeling spiritually fed and emotionally rejuvenated.  The icing on the cake was getting to meet my real-life hero, Emily Belle Freeman.  She teaches an online religious class each week and my sisters and I have been participating for a couple years.

As I was walking around the huge convention center full of 5,500 women and saw Emily giving out autographs, I immediately called my sisters and they came running.  Unfortunately the program started back up and we had to take our seats but we found her the next day and after anxiously waiting in line, we got to meet her in person.  I'm embarrassed that we didn't really talk to her because we didn't want to take up too much time (unlike her other fans) but we all managed to thank her profusely as we posed for a quick picture.
Laura and I went for a quick run in the frigid 19 degree air.

Some other things going on around here.....Daylight Savings happened which means it's dark at 4pm so I made the boys go for a Sunday walk in the dark with me just to get out of the house and get some fresh air.  I made them run a couple laps around the house too and then we walked through our woods.  It felt like an adventure and I love where I live, even when it's dark.

I FINALLY got a new front door. This needed to happen since the day we moved in.  Seven years later, we got it done!  Hooray!  Next on the list is new windows but until we win the lottery, it's going to have to wait.  I'd rather get a boat!

I also got my pantry door installed finally!  Yay!

Landon and Randy have taken up golfing.  Landon is a natural and Randy likes to have something to do on Saturdays so he doesn't have to stay home and do things for me like clean the garage.

In a weird turn of events, everyone had stuff going on one Saturday afternoon except for Henry and I did NOT want to try to entertain him myself since I do that every day, so I took him miniature golfing while Randy and Landon golfed.  We were both pleasantly surprised that the old, ghetto golf course had decorated with lots of big Christmas inflatables which made it more fun.  Henry and I had a great time together.  But I have no desire to take up actual golfing.

Oh, and the other best part of my sisters weekend was getting separate texts from Landon and Randy that said, "Why is there a dog in our house?"  I conveniently said I'd help a friend out by watching her dog for the weekend and then I left town.  The boys weren't sure what to think but I laughed and laughed at my "win."  Mila was a good dog but no, we will not be getting a dog.  In my mind, it's like the boys are asking for another brother.  I have nothing left in me to give to another human or animal that needs me to care for them.  I am empty.
