Lacrosse

Another season of lacrosse has come and gone.  Ethan played middie on the high school varsity team and sometimes played in JV games as well.  Landon played on the 7/8 team as attack, and Parker played on the 3/4 team wherever they needed him to be.  Sometimes we had 4 games/week!  Insane doesn't begin to describe our schedule.  We ate dinner together only a handful of times for months straight.  Miraculously everyone made it to their games and practices at the right time and location every time.  Things got a little tricky when Marcus started coaching and we didn't have enough cars to get everyone where they needed to be while the Audi was in the shop, but we made things work.

Landon is #2 because he has two older brothers and two younger.  Landon's team has so much fun together and definitely has the most heart.  They love the game.  But they lose a lot.  Poor kids!  But Landon plays well, and scores most of their goals and is loved by the coaches and players alike.  He picked out the photos to go on the blog since there are million pictures taken of every game and I have no desire to sort through them all.

Parker is #4 because that's the jersey they gave him and he's happy with it because Marcus was also #4.  Parker mostly plays middie because he's a fast runner, but he often rotates through all the positions.  Parker has spent hours practicing in the backyard with his brothers and it shows.  He scoops up the ground balls and never misses a catch.  His coaches love him.

Ethan is #15 because someone else took his #5 jersey.  He played on the varsity team but got most of his actual playing time in the JV games.  I loved going to the JV games!  The team was really good and Ethan usually scored a lot of goals.  The varsity team had a great season though and with a few nail-biting wins, they made it to the State Championship game.  So exciting!  This was Coach Sam's last year at Skyline after coaching for probably almost 20 years or something.  It's a big deal he's leaving and we hoped he'd coach the boys to another State Championship win.  The final game was so good until we lost in the final seconds by one point.  I was yelling and screaming so much I lost my voice for several days.  Losing a close game just hurts.  It's like watching puppies being slaughtered!  Big boys out on the field sobbing after playing their hearts out is just plain sad.  I can't talk about it anymore.

Proud brothers after winning the final play-off game.  We are going to State!

Sending the team off on the bus for the State Championship

This is a really bad picture of the team way off in the distance with some cool clouds in the background.   It was 100 degrees on a Friday night in Richland.  We drove three hours to play this small-town team.  Ethan played really well and we creamed them.

Please ignore sweaty Ethan in front of the Columbia River temple that I had no idea existed.

And we can't talk lacrosse without mentioning Marcus since it's still very much a part of his life while he's home.  He was in Utah for some rehab and attended a Farmington lax game.  That team just loves him and had him say some inspiring things to the players before the game started.  Marcus is in the middle of that huddle.

  1. I love the picture of the Turkey Trot kid in the LAX family picture. He's acting like he's part of the fam. He might be, but I've never met him :)
