I know it's the last thing you want to hear about but I have to talk about lacrosse some more. I meant to post this a week ago so this blog doesn't become a shrine to Marcus but life happens and time spent at the computer without Henry interrupting me is precious. The boys' last day of school is tomorrow so my computer time is about to go from occasional to nonexistent so here goes....

Landon did face-offs once in awhile and won most of them |
Landon experienced his first season of lacrosse and loved every second
of it. I took him to his first game and since he had to be there a half
hour early, I promptly dropped him off, parked the van, and fell asleep
on the backseat. I can't remember why I was so tired but I do remember
that it was a much-needed nap and when I woke up I'm pretty sure I had
to wipe the drool from my cheek. It was that good! By the time I made
it onto the field, the game was almost over and Landon had scored a
couple goals. I was shocked but what was more shocking was that I
actually had a lot of fun watching Landon play. It turns out their
games are only 40 minutes long with very few rules so his age level of
lacrosse is my new favorite thing. It's quick, there are all sorts of
funny mistakes (like a goalie going rogue and running down the field to
score) and the rules are super simplified. After the game ends, each
team picks two players from the opposing team to honor for playing well
or showing good sportsmanship and those players receive a sticker to go
on their helmet. Landon earned three of those stickers throughout the
season. Basically he's a stud. Now that the season is over he is
obsessed with watching professional lacrosse on TV.

My boys are small :) |

My favorite picture of the season with Landon on the left running past the huge fat kid to score. Look at all the parents' faces in the background! His games are so entertaining! |
Ethan had a tough lacrosse season. His age group is a mix of seventh and eighth grade boys so their sizes varied widely depending on who has hit puberty or not. Sometimes Ethan was stuck trying to get past boys that were six feet tall so his ability to score was drastically reduced from last year. He toughed it out though and managed to score the only goal in the very last game of the season. He's going to play one more year of lacrosse and then plans to wait until he grows before playing in high school. In the meantime, he's practicing in the backyard all the time and working on his left hand shots which will make him a valuable asset to any team.

And this is the best shot ever! Ethan gave it his all shooting the ball past those huge players. He's got guts! |
