Broken, Broken, and Broken

1. Broken Chariot

Wednesday morning was a gorgeous day. Sixty-five degrees with low humidity--perfect for running. I got dressed to run, loaded up the boys in the Chariot, and we were off! Two steps later we were jerked to a screeching halt when the axle on the front tire snapped in half. My boys cheered while I stomped back into the house to check out the warranty on my most prized possession. Naturally the warranty only lasts a year. I've had mine for over two years now and used it 4-6 times a week. I didn't do the math but I'm pretty sure that's a lot of mileage so I guess I can understand a broken axle. I'm just thankful it happened at the beginning of my run and not half-way through it. I ordered the parts and will be back to pushing the Chariot in no time.
2. Broken Shoes

Marcus and Ethan broke their sandals on the same day. The sole was peeling away from the rest of the shoe, leaving a big flap and causing lots of trips and sudden tumbles to the ground. After much searching I discovered that just because it still feels like summer doesn't mean stores carry summer shoes. I couldn't find sandals/flip flops anywhere and the thought of shoving my kids fat feet into socks and shoes every time we go outside makes me tired so I was left with no other option. I jumped on the band wagon and bought my kids Crocs. I hate Crocs. No one in my family has ever owned a pair, EVER! Naturally the only color in their sizes was fluorescent orange. Woof! The boys love them and wish they could wear them to church. I put my foot down on that one.
3. My Camera

I went on a girls-only adventure to Forest Adventure Park. It's a park tucked between fields of sugar cane and pineapple where you get to fly through the jungle on zip lines. It was so much fun! And then I broke my camera. Somehow the little flap that covers the battery and memory card compartment broke off and tumbled to the bottom of the jungle floor hundreds of feet below. Hopefully Canon will ship the piece to my APO address. This is our 4th digital camera in four years. Looks like that fancy Nikon I wanted for Christmas will just be a wish until I can learn to take care of the cheap camera I have.
I wonder what will break this week. Probably my car.

  1. Sounds like you need a few rolls of duct tape. I think it would fix everything on your list. :)

  2. Oooh, don't jinx yourself. I'll hope your car doesn't break down. Biggest bummer is your broken stroller. Are you going to buy a new one??

  3. Your poor Chariot! I was going to ask you this morning if you went running. I need to get my jogger out and start using it!!

Those crocs are ugly but they sure are easy and comfortable. I'm surprised they broke. Maybe the BX/PX would do an exchange??

Hope you find a good camera, and I'll pray your van doesn't break down! :)

  5. When it rains it pours! While I agree with you in general about Crocs, there is one exception. The ones I wear! They don't have the holes and are a simple black. Plus they're light and comfy for when I'm on my feet for 13 hours a day!

  6. WOW, I didn't realize I was a little behind in the reading of the blogs. That is a lot to go wrong in a short time. But it comes in threes so you should be off the hook. That is why Marcus was so excited about his orange shoes. It always sounds so fun there in Japan. Keep up the good fun. Mom B.
