For the Record

One of my most favorite things to do is travel with my children on extremely long flights around the world. Not really, but we do it so often I should learn to like it, kinda like eating broccoli.
This time our trip to the States is mostly a vacation for me while Randy is interviewing at schools. He decided he wants to be an endodontist and the Navy decided they'll continue to pay him his full salary while he goes back to school for 2 more years. The hitch: We owe the Navy 3 more years after Randy finishes school. This means we are staying in the military for a little while longer. We NEVER thought we'd do it, but the idea of going back to the life of starving college students with 3 kids was not too appealing. We've found the last few years of life with a paycheck to be pretty enjoyable!
Still confused? We have 10 more months of life in tropical paradise, then we move back to the States while Randy goes to school (While getting paid!) for 2 years. When he finishes school he'll continue working for the Navy for 3 years but hopefully we'll be living in the States.
Marcus is temporarily attending kindergarten in Utah because I felt guilt having him miss a whole month of school.
I'm hanging out with my mom and loving every second of it.
So that's our lives in a nutshell. Pretty exciting, huh?

*Stay tuned for a post on travel tips. I have so many people ask me how I fly around the world with my kids I've decided to dedicate a post full of all the things you need to know so the next time you get on an airplane you will be totally prepared and calm as a summer's breeze. *

  5. I think your first tip should be: Don't bring the kids. Ha ha. Just kidding. I am surprised you are committing to another 3 years after school, but totally understand the reasoning, and am excited for you! It is nice to have a predictable paycheck. Enjoy the month in the US! My tip for traveling with kids? If you are bringing a car seat on the plane, use the Traveling Toddler Car Seat Travel Accessory found on Amazon and elsewhere. We use it every time we fly and I have successfully taken 2 kids, only one carryon, and no stroller. By myself. Not bragging, just saying it is a great product. I am looking forward to your tips!
