The UnFun-Run

It's been a few months since we've seen the sun and it finally decided to make its grand appearance on race day, making it about 20 degrees warmer than what I'm used to. Some people can handle the heat. Lucky them. My body crashes and burns, well melts actually. On Saturday, my body melted somewhere between mile 3 and 4. I felt nauseated, my speech was slurred, and I stumbled over my feet. Luckily my friend Crista stayed by my side, pouring water over my head when we finally got to a water station. Volunteers were handing out cool, wet sponges and I'm pretty sure that saved my life. I was so wet as I crossed the finish line (20 minutes after my goal) my shoes were squishing.
But I ran all the way around that blasted Ie Island, and if there hadn't been a big volcano in the middle of it I probably would've taken a shortcut.

Good bye Ie Island!

  2. I was so inspired by your last post that I got up bright and early this morning and ran a whopping 2.5 miles. You rock! Hope Randy's feeling better.
