We are back in the good ol' USA. After 26 hours of travel we arrived without much drama other than a few minutes of such rough turbulence I wrapped my knees around my chair while clutching Landon amid screams from fellow passengers.
Arriving in Salt Lake was anti-climatic. I always envisioned hugging my mom amid tears and saying, "I did it! I did it!" Living in tropical paradise was great but it was still a challenge living far from home in a foreign country and I know she understood what that was like for me. But I was too tired to dwell on her absence for more than a few seconds.
As we drove home from the airport, Ethan said, "Look, Mom! There's an American flag!"Not many 4-year olds notice things like that. It's good to be back. As I sat around talking with my dad and sisters I kept feeling impatient. You know that feeling when you're waiting for the last person to arrive so the party can get started. I felt like my mom should have walked in at any moment. But being home helps me feel her near and that's comforting.
Now a new adventure begins starting with finding a house, buying 2 cars, cell phones, furniture. . . and that's just a start.
Stay tuned.
Let me be the first to say welcome back! Sadly I don't have any idea when we'll be able to see you guys, but we look forward to it! Let us know when you get your new numbers!!!

ReplyDeleteSo glad you made it back safe and sound - we were thinking of you Saturday morning while you were in flight. Andrew would ask if Marcus was still in the air ... the answer was alway, "Yep, he's STILL in the air" :)

We're glad you're back too. I hope you guys will like Washington. We have some friends who live south of Seattle and they love it there!
