Memorial Day

It's all about the graves. We have started a tradition of cleaning headstones at the cemetery where Lindsey and my mom are buried and we like to do it in May around the time of Lindsey's passing. One of the hardest things about losing a loved one is the fear they will be forgotten so it's a neat experience to clear the dirt and weeds away from some of the graves that have been neglected and forgotten over time.

Lindsey's grave on the left, my mom's on the right, marked by the tile until her headstone is completed

My brother loves to hold his name sake Landon Greg. These two already have a special bond. The first time Landon smiled was when Greg held him for the first time.

The kids are hard at work painting rocks to place on their grandma's grave. Next to the storage bins full of Christmas decorations is a box of seasonal decorations to put on the graves throughout the year. Like I said, it's all about the graves.
