Welcome to the 21st Century!

Big news around here folks. I got my first cell phone. I know you're probably thinking, "Wow! I thought only small children and really old, nearly dead people were the only people on the planet who didn't own a cell phone." I guess I'm the exception and it makes sense to me.
Way back in the day when most people purchased their first cell phone, I got married and moved to Boston where we were too poor to pay for more than one cell phone and the only person I knew in Massachusetts was too busy learning how to be a dentist to bother with phone conversations. Then we moved to Okinawa and the laid-back lifestyle we enjoyed didn't require a cell phone. Plus, they were ridiculously expensive and everything was in Japanese.
So here I am with my first cell phone. I've had it for three days and used it once when the battery died so I had to use Randy's. So give me a call, but I doubt I'll answer because either I won't have it with me, the battery will be dead, or I won't recognize the ringing is coming from my phone.

  1. Congrats on the phone and that's a really cute picture of you, by the way.

I've had my cell phone for too many years to count and I still don't answer it when it rings. I'm sure I'm the only 30-something on the planet who has yet to text. :)

  2. No worries. I still don't have a cell phone and don't intend on getting one. I'm home 80% of the time and my home phone still suites me fine. Enjoy yours though and glad you could join in with the rest of the world. :)

  3. Yes, it's pretty bad that Peter, aka Mr. Gadget-a-phobe, got a cell phone before you. To be fair, he only got his a couple of months ago when I bought it for him and threatened him with cold dinner if he didn't use it. Enjoy your newfound connectedness.

  6. Love the picture of you, Mel!
You know, I thought there were pigs up in the sky today but chalked it up to the heat and humidity. Now I KNOW it was true! Ha, ha!
I think those pigs will be the real deal when you join facebook! ;)

  7. Woohoo!!! An Odyssey and a cell phone... wow!!! We're going to be at Lagoon on Friday July 9th and possibly again on Monday the 12th (I know you can understand how living on an island makes going to Lagoon seem exciting enough to do it twice!) Anyway, we'd love to see you if you're up to it... keep in touch!
