We bought Marcus a new bike after his old piece-of-junk bike finally bit the dust.
I'm still coming to grips with the idea of such a big, awesome bike given for no reason other than he needed one. After all, it's not his birthday and we're still a few months out from Christmas. But I guess if that makes me a bad parent for spoiling my kid then oh well. If you saw your kid sitting on the sidewalk, watching five of his neighbor friends ride around in the cul de sac all afternoon, you'd cave in too.
Marcus was up at the crack of dawn, dressed, and ready to take his bike out for a spin. I made him wait until it was light outside before he could ride.
Oh, to be young again. I can't remember the last time I was so excited about something I couldn't sleep.
I know someone who only got new underwear at Christmas. We got new underwear when we needed it. So there! Hooray for the new bike!!
ReplyDeleteNice ride, Marcus!! :)
ReplyDeleteHe'll be showing 'em how to pop wheelies in no time.
I would've caved too!
Every kid deserves a bike, only the lucky few have a June birthday! Sometimes giving it for no reason is even better because if you called it something like "a back to school present" he would start to expect that every year!!! I love your work with the tools, where on earth did you get pink tools? Can't wait to see them all hung up nicely when we come visit next summer! I've got your cell phone # taped to my desk, has been sitting there for over a month... I'm so lame... some day soon I will actually use it- I can't wait to hear that roar in person!!!
ReplyDeletemarcus should never be without a bike. that kid has skills!!!
ReplyDeleteMegan is sooooo jealous!
ReplyDeleteHow is the plateau treating you? great people, huh? i figured out what ward you're in based upon where you ended up. a few of my favorite personalities are in your ward.
ReplyDeleteglad you're out biking and heading out on adventures around the city. Still wish our paths crossed, maybe next time. :)
