Good (Old) Date Night

I am old.
But I don't feel that old.  In my heart I feel like I'm 25, but that was a long time ago.
These old age feelings started last Saturday night, when Randy and I went out on a date, and it's time I owned up to them.  We got free tickets courtesy of the endo program to the "U-Dub" football game.  Randy was busy doing school things so I got the job of picking up the sitter.  I used to do a ton of babysitting back in the day (when I was young) so it was a little weird with the roles reversed.  I don't feel as old as the moms were that I babysat for back in the day, but I know that I must be.
We got to the football game and found ourselves surrounded by young college students dressed in their school colors, looking much like I did, years ago when I went to my college football games.  But these kids looked so young!  If I had seen them in a different setting I would have assumed they were in high school.  Just another reminder of my old age I guess.
We hiked up to our seats, top of the nose-bleed section on the very last row, but hey, the tickets were free, remember?  Then we sat down and watched the game.  Remember how students stand up the entire time as they cheer on the team and hope to be spotted on the big screen?  Yeah, I used to do that but not tonight.  Tonight I was an adult, mother of three, worried more about how much to pay the babysitter and whether my boys were behaving themselves, than the score of the game.

We left at half-time.
Told you I'm old.

The back row has a perk: We didn't have to sit in the pouring rain!

  1. Hooray for you and Randy having a little one on one time. Alone. Together!:) Date nights are awesome, but they're even better when you can swap kids and not worry about paying someone! :) Miss you guys!

  2. Ha! I remember those days when I thought to myself "Since when do college kid look like they are in middle school?"" Don't worry, it reverses with time. Now I am starting to feel young because I don't have near the aches and pains that most of my friends do. LOL!
