Our heads are still spinning from the news but here's a few reasons why we're excited about RI:
- Moving across the country is a walk in the park compared to moving over seas
- We don't have to sell/ship our cars and put half our belongings in storage
- We don't have to live out of suitcases for months waiting for our household goods to arrive with a newborn baby
- The boys won't have to be the "new kids" in Utah and then Italy.
- We get to stay together as a family
- We're a short drive from Boston, where our family started
- We're a short drive from NYC
- We love New England!
My apologies to all of you who planned to take advantage of free room and board when visiting us in Italy. Yes, we're missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity but for whatever reason we have never felt really good about the idea of moving to Italy. We had to keep reassuring ourselves that everything would work out and that it was the best thing for our family. We already know from experience living overseas is exciting but it is also tough. Now I feel like a huge burden has been lifted. We can actually focus on the excitement of having another baby and celebrating Randy's upcoming graduation, both of which would be on the back burner compared to everything else we had going on.
So feel free to offer your condolences or congratulations but we're excited at this unexpected turn of events.
Definitely congratulations!!!! That sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm so very excited for you! I was already planning a trip to Boston in the fall and now I can add a stop in RI to see you! So happy that everything is working out for you!
ReplyDeleteYo, major congrats. I was losing sleep FOR you with the international move, new baby, family separation. Rhode Island sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteHooray!! Let's meet halfway for dinner sometime!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Truscotts used to live in that ward. :)
WHAT?! Wow, that's a total shocker! I feel relief (for whatever reason) ... it looks like such a great fit for you and your family. (I'll be emailing).
ReplyDelete-A
Hooray for RI! I love going back east.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSS!!!!!!! We are all doing a serious happy dance here. Even Ivy, who has never met you. This is so so so great.
ReplyDeleteWell I was planning to come see you in Italy as I plan to make it to the temple dedication there in 2014, but am excited you will be here in the states. How close is Rhode Island to Maine. We need to take a trip up that way and visit you and MItzi.
ReplyDeleteMatt's parents were stationed in RI and LOVED it! You'll have an incredible adventure and it sounds like your move will be much smoother. We're really happy for you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Mel. You will make it great wherever you go!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Mel. You will make it great wherever you go!
ReplyDeleteRI will be another great adventure to write about. I am looking forward to following you there.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course as always, we continue to follow each other. We will be moving to Seattle (not officially announced yet so wait until i blog about it to say yea!) and within months you will be off again. It has been interesting how our lives have crossed 6 months behind each others and moving within miles of where the other left off.
Clearly I don't see RI in our future, so hopefully you will come back to Seattle ans stay a bit longer.
