Another Adventure in the Air

We made it to Rhode Island, our home for the next three years.  Through all our moves and travels I have come to realize home is a feeling not a place.   But right now Rhode Island doesn't feel like home yet so I guess that means we are temporarily homeless.  Hopefully as we get more settled and I figure out how to get the boys to school without using GPS, find a grocery store so I can stock the cupboards, and get into a routine all the while caring for a newborn, I'm sure those unsettled feelings will change.

But for now I need to focus on the positive:  My boys are the best travelers ever.  Ever!  I flew with all four of them from Salt Lake to Chicago, then from Chicago to Providence without a hitch.  The most stressful part of the whole trip was getting our luggage (3 over-weight suitcases, 3 car seats, 1 carry-on) from the curb to the counter but I did it and I must have appeared to have everything under control because no one offered to help me steer my mountain of precariously perched luggage through the airport.  I treated the boys to lunch at McDonald's and was awestruck when I saw my favorite restaurant Cafe Rio located right next to it.  I knew it had to be an omen of good things to come and I was right.  Even though we almost missed our flight (I lost track of time while enjoying my Cafe Rio salad). Making a mad dash through the airport with four kids is exilerating and something you only see in movies.  The boys were angels.  I lost count of how many people complimented me on how well behaved my boys were.  I'm so glad my wild, crazy, and somewhat obnoxious boys know how to behave when the stakes are high.  We even scored seats in First Class from Chicago.  Marcus and Ethan wasted no time requesting limitless soda and snacks and kept the flight attendant hopping to meet their needs.  The first thing Marcus said when he woke up this morning was, "I love First Class!"

Manna from heaven

First Class is AWESOME!  Just ask them.

  2. I'm depressed. I just looked up the drive from my house to RI: 20 hours and 11 minutes. Which means we are your half-way point between RI and Utah. And this also means I will not be driving out for Thanksgiving. Woof.

  3. I was just going to make the same comment at Ellen. Seriously, you should come.

Also, if you want to drop your boys off for a day or two so you can unpack, I'd be totally down with that. For reals.

  4. Isn't it so rewarding when you get on a flight with a handful of kids/babies and you get the "please don't sit by me, please don't sit by me" looks from people and then at the end of the flight they say, "your kids are so well behaved, I didn't even know they were there"
Well done super mom. Well done
