My Kids are Tough. I am Lost.

We've been in Rhode Island one month now and it is feeling more and more like home every day.  For the first time last week some neighbor kids came over to play with my boys.  I'm not sure who was more excited about this, me or the boys.  Now Marcus and Bean play with friends every afternoon and for right now our house is the cool house to hang out in.  I'm not kidding when I tell you our basement is a boy's dream come true.
It's been raining her a lot and Bean ran outside to play in the rain feeling right at home.  I watched him puddle splashing and was amazed at how well he's transitioned through all the big changes we've had and realized I haven't done the same.  I've been a wimp.  I've allowed myself to feel homesick for too long.  Then I got super lost trying to find my way from the library to the grocery store and realized I'm perfectly justified in wimping out.  I get lost every time I leave my house!  I ended up at some trailer park down by the river when I was trying to find a paint store all because of a one-letter typo on the GPS.  I can get from my house to the grocery store just fine and the library too, but when I tried to go from one to the other we ended up lost for a half hour.  But eventually we got there, without using GPS.  So maybe I'm not ready to jump into things with both feet.  But eventually I'll be an awesome New Englander again.  As soon as I stop getting lost all the time!  Grrrrr.

  1. I got lost so many times when I first moved here. I know how you feel. Come and hang out in Meffa where you remember where things are!

  2. We didn't use GPS in New England, the paperback road map was much more accurate. Hang in there!
