The Freak Show Goes To Newport

It's a good thing I don't measure our success in life by how much money we make because after walking along the cliff walks and seeing the huge "vacation cottages" I'd be feeling pretty hopeless right now.  However, if success was measured by the number of children produced, then I'd say we are on our way.
It is a strange and unusual sight to see a parent with more than one child in New England.  Typically that parent looks more like a grandparent because the average age people start their families is around forty years old, which makes me look like I must have been some knocked-up teenager. So basically we're a freak show coming to town every time all four boys come spilling out of the van.  It's not like we have nineteen kids and counting and I'm forced to drive our family around in a bus but our outings seem to have the same effect.  Not once have I managed to take all four boys out in public without at least one person asking, "Are they all yours?" or "Is the baby a boy too?"  To which I respond, "Yes they are all mine.  We thrive on chaos.  And four boys is better than four girls." (not that I would know)
Anyway, back to the cliff walks.  We took our little "freak show"  otherwise known as our family, to walk along the cliff walks in Newport to see how the other half lived.  The boys got their wiggles out by climbing trees and running around while I walked behind with Parker, pretending like I didn't know them.

  2. Wow...maybe someday I can rent a bedroom in one of those vacation houses for a night... :) We miss your freak show. What would be the point if it didn't attract attention?

  3. I love that place!! It is amusing the comments you get with four kids, I never thought four was that many, my favorite recent one, was "but you look so......um refreshed, so you wanted all four?!!!"
