We just got back from a fantastic family reunion in Idaho. Our good friend and neighbor let us stay at his lodge and the fun was endless. We started things off with a ride on the 4-wheeler and Marcus was the driver. What? Am I really that old? We spent hours on the giant slip-n-slide, swimming in the fish pond, eating delicious food {all family gatherings require yummy food and lots of it}, reading, relaxing, and sweating under the hot sun. In my opinion it was over too quickly.
This family gathering was slightly different than any other because we made specific plans on how we spent our time and our theme of "Family Strong" was the focus. Each family was in charge of an activity, the grandparents planned an activity just for the grandkids, and each family prepared a skit for our no-talent-required talent show. When we got exhausted from the fun, we headed down to the movie theater in the basement to watch our favorite shows on the big screen. The best part about all this was the fact that we finally felt like a real family again, despite the holes from missing loved ones {and my bro-in-law who couldn't make it}. I never thought our family could feel that complete but it sure felt that way to me and I wanted to bask in that feeling forever.
