Lacrosse - This time it's about Landon, Ethan, and Parker too

I'm determined to blog every day this week so I can start chipping away at the backlog of happenings in our lives.  Unfortunately the last several months have been the busiest of our lives so this will be no small feat.  Good thing I like a challenge!

Landon has been begging for the big lacrosse post that I do at the end of each season with some of the pictures of their lacrosse season in one place so here we go.....

Landon had a great season playing on the "A" team with 5/6 grade boys.  He plays attack and averaged about five goals per game and one game got ten goals!  Landon plays attack and knows how to get the ball into the corners of the goal where the goalie can't save it.  His teammates know that if they can get the ball to Landon, they'll get a goal.

Landon got recruited to play on a summer club team called Classics.  The team doesn't practice together, they just show up at different tournaments so the cost is much lower and we only had to commit to two tournaments.  Luckily one was in Utah while we were already there so that was easy to fit in, and then we drove down to Portland for the second tournament.

Classics in UT where it was 95 degrees and we just wanted to get out of there!

Hunkering down under the umbrella for relief from the sun in between games

Playing in Sherwood, OR where he scored the first goal so fast that no one knew what happened.  Then he scored two more right after that for a hat trick.

We had 6 hours in between games so we explored, shopped, and saw the new Thor movie.  Landon is a great travel companion!

Ethan had an interesting lacrosse season.  He missed half of it as he waited for his neck/back pain to get better. After he finally got the all-clear to play, he had missed a lot of practice time and the coaches weren't always understanding.  But they let Ethan fly to Texas with the team for their spring break trip and Ethan started taking face-offs and scoring a few goals each game so he definitely contributed to the JV team beating some of their tough rivals.  The future continues to look bright for Skyline lacrosse.  Ethan is a great player but he definitely plays for fun, unlike Marcus and Landon who are obsessed with lacrosse.  I'm fine with a little less intensity, that's for sure!

We drove down to Bend, OR on the last day of school so Landon and Ethan could play in a tournament with their Skyline teams.  The trip was torture!  Fighting traffic and driving 25mph through small towns to get to our condo in Sun River was not for the faint of heart.  We were only there two nights and as we were driving down I realized that wouldn't be long enough for such a long drive so I asked Randy if he had patients scheduled for Monday so we could stay longer.  Ironically he had just called his office and told his manager to fill his Monday because he hadn't meant to block it out.  She wasted no time filling those spots and I almost wanted to cry.  I hope to never to go back to Bend again!

Luckily our condo had a hot tub because it was 55 degrees and rainy when we arrived

Don't let the sunshine fool you.  We were freezing and the only way to stay warm was to  stay in the pools so there were no lines for the water slides unless you lost a triple-dog-dare, of course.

Landon and Ethan got "summer" shorts for their uniforms.  It was way too cold for this look, believe me!

Ethan's team won the championship. By a lot!  Not sure why the boys brag about victories over terrible teams but whatever.

Landon's team with all the Dads on Father's Day.  Randy was watching Ethan play so I stood in for him.  With two boys playing on different fields at different times, Randy and I drove back and forth between Ethan and Landon so we could catch some of each game.  It was exhausting.  The only time we got to relax was sitting down at church that was just a few minutes away from where they played.

And here's Parker!  He had a great lacrosse season.  He's fast and always knows how to get a few goals in every game.  He's playing with such young boys that aren't as lucky to have older brothers playing so he is one of the stars of the team.  Marcus is like a celebrity when he'd show up to watch Parker's games and even gave out an autograph or two.

On Senior night, all the younger players made a tunnel for the seniors to walk down.  Parker was thrilled to be there until he realized he had to walk down the tunnel with Marcus instead.

We all got to feel like a celebrity as they announced Marcus's name.  I was one proud mama as I walked down the tunnel with my lacrosse family.  Any parent who wondered why I didn't volunteer more, suddenly realized why :) I should've gotten a trophy for attending the most lacrosse games in one season.
