Christmas Traditions Covid Style

I asked my boys what their favorite Christmas tradition was and they all unanimously agreed on Brothers Night. I asked if there were any other must-dos and they couldn’t even remember all the other things we do like reading Christmas stories by candlelight, delivering cookies to neighbors with our van decked out in Christmas lights, gifts to Jesus, and more. I tried not to cry. But at least Brothers Night is a win.

This year we ended up doing Brothers Night during the day on Saturday because we had nothing else to do so why wait until night, right?  We picked up takeout from Habit Burger (restaurants are closed for dining in) and then braved the crowds at Target. I don’t think any of the boys figured out who drew their name or saw their presents so it was a win. Also, taking Henry down the toy aisle is a bad idea.  A very bad idea! Somehow we managed to leave without buying him everything he was begging/insisting for.

We started a new tradition this year of getting takeout at Chik Fil-A, and then driving down Snow Flake Lane in Bellevue to see all the lights.  Usually there’s a parade and dancers every night but seeing all the mates and fake snow was a pretty good Covid version.

Washington-style drive thru at Chik Fil-A. I need one of those when I’m watching my boys play spring sports.
