We flew to Utah for our spring break. It’s a bad time of year to visit UT because of the weather, but we were mainly going to get out of WA and see Marcus play lacrosse. Can I just say that now that I’ve flown with the boys, it will be really hard to ever do that drive again. The two hour flight (after waiting an hour to get through security and breaking up the full out brawl between my angelic children) was pure bliss.
The boys and I spent our time waiting for the cousins and Marcus to get home from school by killing time at every indoor playground or trampoline park we could find. I’m NOT the mom who enjoys these things and is happy to sit and watch my kids play. They had fun but I was definitely bored. But bored in UT is better than being bored at home. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves

I got to meet Marcus’s friends when they came over for lunch. His girlfriend Mikelle is on his right. They are a good group of kids. |

Parker learned to roller skate. Sort of. Now I know what to get him for his birthday...rollerblades! |
 |
Playing Star Wars Monopoly with the grandparents. Ethan was bored out of his mind! |
 |
Marcus and Megan do everything together including getting in their first car accident. Megan got rear ended and her car was totaled. |

Ethan has mad rollerblading skills for a first timer |

Henry no longer sleeps in the closet and has moved up to the pirate beds. He loved it! |

Cabella’s sporting goods store gave us a little something to do one cold, snowy morning |

We went to Marcus’s game against North Ridge high school on Wednesday night. Toby’s parents came to watch along with some of Kathy’s kids so Marcus had quite the cheering section. He scored 5 goals and played like a beast in spite of the constant jeering from the other team. He even had moms yelling at him. Not cool! After the game (Marcus’s team blew them out of the water) a few fans followed Marcus and his brothers off the field so Marcus’s coach had to follow them and told the kids to get lost. Marcus was super upset by it all and I’m so proud of him for not losing his temper or fighting. It’s strange how people think just because Marcus is big and strong that he doesn’t have feelings and they forget that he’s still a kid. Unfortunately his size and talent is becoming well known and teams know their only chance of winning is to shut him down.
Marcus and the cousins didn’t have school on Friday so we took them back to Classic Fun Center so Marcus could learn to skate and play laser tag with the boys.

Henry loved having Marcus help him up the big stuff |

We finally found something Marcus can’t do! |

I love Crumbl Cookies and could eat them daily. Good thing there aren’t any close by in WA. |
On Friday night, we all drove up to Laura’s to eat dinner before going to Marcus’s lacrosse game. It was so good to all be together. The teenagers are getting way too grownup and the little kids are so fun to watch. We had great food, the kids played on the trampoline, chased the chickens, and got rides on Uncle Jake’s tractor.

We went to the game with the whole family and Randy’s parents joined us to make our cheering section the loudest of all. The game was intense and the first one of the season where the boys had to play hard to win. Marcus got shut down by their defense and was only able to assist but still played well and took some really painful hits as he tried to get to the goal. We all lost our voices from all the yelling and it was a game to be remembered. Marcus said it was so fun playing with such a huge roar from both sides of the stands. After the nail-biter game, Marcus ran to us, hopped the fence effortlessly and gave us huge hugs. We got to meet all his coaches and friends and congratulate them on their victory and it was fun to hear all the coaches rave about my boy. He’s a good kid.

Such a beautiful setting! |

Marcus and Caleb and their girlfriends who surprised them by driving all the way up to Heber to watch the game. Brave girls to hug smelly, sweaty lacrosse boys! |
Saturday was our last day and we played hard. After watching sam’s lacrosse game we went to J Dawgs for lunch (nothing better than a good hot dog with J Dawg sauce) and another trampoline park that was better than all the rest.

This place was massive! |

Last night at the johnsons |
That night randy and I went to dinner with April and Toby and the Bacon’s (their next door neighbors and Marcus’s second family). They are great people and their son is Marcus’s “brother from another mother.” I think they hoped to convince me to let Marcus stay in Utah for another year but unfortunately it’s not happening. Marcus may never forgive me for it but it is what it is.

Now that I know how easy it is to fly, I understand why Randy goes to Utah to see his family so much. It’s just so easy! |
Dang Mel! You guys play hard!! I love it. Sorry we missed ya.
