East Coast Lacrosse Trip - Philadelphia

Marcus and I spent six long days in Pennsylvania and New York for a couple lacrosse tournaments. Originally the plan was for Randy to hold down the fort for a couple days until my sister April and her family arrived for their annual summer trip to Sammamish. Unfortunately their plans changed and Randy was busy planning a funeral for a member of our ward so Ethan and Landon were left in charge a lot. I knew things were bad when I got off my 6 hour flight to Philly (so blissful flying without little kids) and before we even reached baggage claim I got a phone call from Henry who tearfully said, “Mom!  No one is taking care of me!”  It was so not what I wanted to hear on day one of six days being away. But everyone survived.  Sort of. But it was ugly.

Marcus played two days in Philly and then we had two days to spend in NYC before driving out to Long Island for his next tournament. I was quite proud of myself for booking flights in and out of different airports, multiple hotel rooms, and a rental car all without a hitch.
We spent our time in Philly relaxing in the hotel while Marcus caught up on his sleep from his recent trip to Utah, eating at Chik Fil-A and Shake Shack too many times to count, and exploring Valley Forge in record time.

Valley Forge was where Washington led his troops to wait out winter where thousands froze to death or starved.

Hundreds of these cabins were built for the troops making Valley Forge the sixth most populated city in the US almost instantly.

We took this picture and then were sadly disappointed that was not George Washington. Can’t remember who it is now. Ask my dad.
Marcus getting comfy in a bunk bed. How anyone survived the winter is a miracle.

George Washington actually lived in this house. I walked where he walked and that’s so cool!

We ate in famous Redding Terminal in Philly. Marcus ordered cheeseburger fries.

We are such history buffs

Since it was Sunday I made sure we stopped by the Philadelphia temple. It is so beautiful and right in the heart of the city
