Sleepless in Okinawa

Our backyard is a swampy jungle that comes alive at night. Mostly it's the frogs that wake us from our peaceful slumber. Even with the window closed and the air conditioner on full blast, we can still hear the croaking frogs who prefer to croak their loudest when we're asleep. Randy has resorted to stuffing toilet paper in his ears until he can't take it anymore, then spends the rest of the night on the extra bed in Ethan's room, farther from the jungle sounds. This clip is a little taste of what we put up with last night at about 10:00 pm. For the most realistic effect, turn your volume up as loud as you can, close your eyes, and imagine you're trying to sleep. (The sound is mild compared to what we hear between the hours of 1 and 4 am.)

  1. I think people pay good money to hear those sorts of noises on CD. Time to start marketing.

  3. Have you ever camped by a lake?
FROG CITY. We were like 15 feet away for the WHOLE WEEK.

But you live by them, so ... you win!

My condolences ... I kinda like em though since I only had to deal with them for a week.

  4. So Nick has some magic ear plugs he loves to sleep with. You might need to use those so you don't get toilet paper stuck in your ears. They have to be the green squishy kind. He swears by them. I'm sure he'll love to tell you about them since they are one of his many passions.
