Randy raced in his first triathlon on Saturday. Oki is the perfect place for events like this but unfortunately most races are scheduled on Sunday which doesn't really work with our being Mormon and all so it was a big deal when he found a race he could do. It also meant there were some amazing athletes who took the whole thing VERY seriously.

I'm the wind beneath his wings and I take that job very seriously. So naturally I braved the rainy weather to cheer Randy on from the sidelines where Marcus could be heard yelling,
"Bring on the heat!"
"Go, Dad! Go!"and
"You can do it!"1000 Meter swim
Relieved that he didn't drown in the wrestling match at sea
30 K bike ride
5k Run around the sugar cane fields finishing 17th of 140
Wow! He did awesome! Glad the rain waited awhile so he didn't crash. Next year the girls can do a relay - yay!! :)
ReplyDeleteWayne and I are seriously impressed...way to go, Randy!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Randy! Brian is seriously impressed (read: jealous) about those ripped arms of yours. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Randy and his cheering squad!!! How do you say impressive in Japanese?!?
ReplyDeleteGood job Randy! Good training for the next family reunion. Uncle Mark is excited for the 5k race in Soda this year. I was under the impression that I (not Mel) was the wind beneath your wings?! I hereby challenge Mel to a WiBeMyWi death match!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Randy! I did a mini-tri here in Decatur. It was only 250 yds in a pool, 8 miles on bike, and 2 miles running. I did it just for fun, but some people get reaaly serious even about that
ReplyDeletelet's have a "ooohhhh elizabeth" for Randy! nice work!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the world of triathlons. The first of many hours you'll spend for brief glimpses of your husband. No really, it's great. I love it. He did a great job!
