My boys on a sugar high |
I know it's hard to believe. I can hardly believe it either, but it's true. I turned down cheesecake. Cheesecake Factory cheesecake to be exact. I wish I could say it was due to my incredible will power but alas, it was simply due to the fact that I consumed more sugar in one day than I have in the last three months combined. The thought of eating a slice of cheesecake put me over the top. So I declined my Valentine's present, the cheesecake that Randy hunted all over Newport for, and it is currently sitting in my freezer untouched.
Here's how I came to be so overloaded with sugar. I threw a Valentine's party for Landon's playgroup so of course I had to make
delicious sugar cookies for the kids (and me), along with
maple cinnamon rolls for my friends (and me) who also brought yummy, sugary treats to share (with me) as well. After the party was over it was time to make cheesecake to go with our super romantic family-style Valentine's dinner. I was exhausted and stuffed so I took a shortcut and made
stuffed strawberries instead. Almost like cheesecake but definitely not the same thing and I only ate a couple. The boys devoured them while Randy and I passionately gazed into each others eyes as we ate delicious
shrimp scampi and pretended like we were in a 5-star restaurant sans kids. Okay, so there wasn't a lot of passion, mostly lots of noise but we broke out our fine China and ate like kings.
Next year's goal for Valentine's Day: Less food, more love!

Wow, it must have been really bad for you to refuse cheesecake! I would've eaten it for you.
