We are only two days into summer vacation and the boys are already whining and complaining that "This is the worst summer
ever!"
I can hardly blame them. We haven't seen the sun in almost a week. It's cloudy, dark, and periodically rains off and on throughout the day. The real kicker is it's exactly the kind of weather we'd expect if we were still living in Seattle. I thought our yucky summer weather days were over when we moved to RI but apparently the rainy weather followed us here.
But I'm determined to make the best of the situation. After all, I'm really glad the boys are finally out of school and my goal is to enjoy each day together without losing my sanity. Oh, and did I mention they aren't allowed to watch TV? I know, I'm asking for it.
Today we went on a bike ride, hoping to find a turtle or two. No luck with the turtles, although we found several empty turtle eggshells and we saw a mama deer with her fawn. Then it was off to hike through a wildlife refuge. Pretty sure we scared all the wildlife away but swarms of mosquitoes kept us running for our lives. We finished off the day with a trip to the local ice cream joint for family night. Not bad for a cloudy, humid, rainy, foggy, non-summer day.
