Gotta love that wind. Brrrrr! |
The kids all got home from school an hour early and I was relieved. In the blizzard of '78 kids were stranded on school buses for hours and over a hundred people died. I was glad my kids were home! Ethan wasted no time gathering fire wood and making sure all the batteries in the head lamps were working. Marcus was just excited to watch as much TV as possible. We cranked the heat up to 80 degrees that night in hopes that our house would stay warmer just a little bit longer when the power went out. We never doubted it would. The wind howled all night, rattling our windows and making our walls creak but miraculously our power stayed on! Hallelujah! It was about fifteen degrees outside so our house would've been an ice box in minutes. We probably got about two feet of snow but in some places the grass was bare and in others the snow was up past my knees. The kids played hard outside for two days thanks to their warm ski clothes. We ate a lot, drank a lot of hot chocolate, and watched a lot of movies. It was great! And I totally recommend The Maze Runner if you haven't seen it yet :)
Bean figured wearing his warm mouse costume would be a great way to dress for staying indoors when the power went out |
Disappointed we had no need to keep warm with sleeping bags and a fire, the boys did it anyway |
The head lamps made late night snow fort building a huge success |
The most crowded sledding hill ever |
Randy took off with our sleds (and his scouts) so we used our boogie boards. |
Check out the lines to go down the hill. Obviously RI is a very flat place. |
That's so sad that there's a huge line for that tiny hill!
