Birthday Bean!

Ethan is finally fifteen!  I keep telling him to act like a fifteen year old and he reminds me he’s only fourteen. Ugh. I’m the worst!

We celebrated him with presents and a birthday dinner with delayed cake and ice cream because he had to take off for lacrosse practice.

He was THRILLED with his new lacrosse head that was custom strung just for him.  Lacrosse heads are more complicated than you’d think.  If the pocket is too deep it’s illegal because the ball won’t fall out if someone hits your stick and the shooting strings can be adjusted just slightly with big results in throwing accuracy.  Plus his head looks cool and it got a lot of attention at practice.

Ethan has been doing a lot of growing lately and not just physically.  I’m starting to get glimpses of the man he will become and I’m thrilled at what lies ahead for him.  He’s a thinker and wants to make good choices.  He’s got a great sense of humor and feels things big which can make everyone happy or really miserable depending on the emotion.  He’s navigating changing friend groups, breaking up with a girlfriend, and being the temporary oldest big brother and doing great for the most part.  He’s learning that hard work pays off and has already figured out how he will spend his first paycheck now that he’s working at Dairy Queen with several of his friends.  He started going to high school in person so that was another big event that he handled smoothly. This is going to be a big year for my boy and I’m excited to watch it unfold.  I love you Bean!!
