Spring!

We are heading into summer weather but spring is still beautiful here. I love that spring lasts for a couple months as the blossoms come out at different times. Most of my trees have green leaves now but there are still so many blossoms everywhere.

Rhododendrons are everywhere!  I took these photos from one street on a morning run

Ice cream after the park

On Wednesday afternoons we have been going to different parks to get a break from being inside and doing the daily grind and it’s a good metric of how great our weather has been that most weeks we don’t have to skip because of rain.

A few weeks ago I had a guy come and destroy our lawn. He thatched it (removed all the moss) aerated it, and seeded it. It looked so bad and we were shocked how little grass we actually had once the moss was all gone. Randy was sure our lawn was ruined forever and we anxiously watered and waited for the seeds to grow. And we waited and we waited. We didn’t mow the lawn at all and finally it was so long I mowed it and the lawn looked beautiful!  So beautiful I took pictures and sent them to family because I’m a nerd like that. So randy had to eat his words and we have a beautiful lawn for the most part.

And now for the sad news of the past week....Marcus’s lacrosse team lost their first game in the playoffs. It was devastating!  They played Brighton who was ranked 9th, we were ranked 3rd so it was a major upset. And to make things worse, we’d played them earlier in the season and beat them soundly. April kept texting me updates and I couldn’t believe the tension I felt from 800 miles away. They were tied 5-5 at the half, Marcus scored three more goals to match theirs so with a minute left we were tied 8-8 and then Brighton scored with 4 seconds left in the game. Marcus sank to his knees in despair and didn’t get up for a long time. There were a lot of tears that night. So we are flying to Utah tomorrow but we won’t be watching any lacrosse games as planned. I’m proud of Marcus for his hard work this season. He was the only junior to make captain and his coaches said he really led the team on and off the field which is so impressive since he was the new guy. I’m sad I didn’t get to see him play hardly at all this season but wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.  Here are a few more photos of my boy. They have such good photographers at his games!
