Although it's been 10 months since we left Okinawa I realize it is still a big part of our lives. As soon as I heard news of the earthquake in Japan I was sending emails and checking Facebook (through my husband's account since I'm still not on there) to check on the status of our friends. Meanwhile, I was surprised at the number of thoughtful people who called or commented on the blog, wondering how our Oki family had fared. Naturally most of our Oki friends are partying together in cramped spaces safe on high ground much like we did the last time. Ironically we know several families who happened to be in Tokyo vacationing when the earthquake hit. All are accounted for and have some pretty good stories to share.
Thanks for thinking of us.
And now I'm off to get our emergency 72-hour kits ready for the next big natural disaster!
I'm so glad everything is ok with your friends (a.k.a. family) in Japan. Been thinking about all of you. I hear you on the 72 hour kit. I'm working on mine as we speak, thanks to the instant perspective gained by this latest tragedy.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that things are looking ok for your friends. Its been so heartbreaking to watch all that has taken place.
